Mission

GARM Mission

GARM is an organization of professionally managed vacation rental companies located on West Galveston Island which are dedicated to professional vacation rental management. GARM companies collectively represent approximately 400 West Galveston vacation rentals, including beach houses and condos.

GARM’s Mission is to promote the vacation rental industry on Galveston Island by:

  • Maintaining a good relationship among vacation rental guests, property owners, neighborhoods, property owner associations, and Galveston residents.
  • Maintaining and upholding “good neighbor” policies, professional hospitality standards and responsible business practices.
  • Adhering to and promoting City, County and State laws and ordinances.
  • Staying current with local and state Hotel Tax payments (HOT).
  • Working with Galvestonians, city officials and elected representatives to collaborate on and promote sound vacation rental regulations that balance the needs of residents with those of STR guests and vacation rental property owners.

In Effect as of 2019 – Sunset to Sunrise, “Remove It or Lose it”:

Galveston’s city ordinance, Leave No Trace, promotes clean island beaches for everyone – visitors, residents and our coastal wildlife.

Canopies, pop-up tents, umbrellas, beach chairs and other gear cannot be left on the beach overnight.

Anything found on the beach by Park Board cleaning crews between sunset & sunrise will be removed and discarded.

All beach visitors play a vital part in maintaining our local ecosystem. Removing beach toys & equipment keeps the beaches clear for local wildlife – from nesting sea turtles to foraging shore birds & crabs – and ensures our coastal waters stay free of beach gear that is easily caught by high tides and washed out into the Gulf.

2024 – 2025 GARM members include:

Beach Time Vacations, Gary Greene Vacation Rentals, Pointe West Vacations (Beachside Village), Ryson Vacation Rentals/Vtrips, Sand `N Sea Properties, and Vacasa (Beachside Village & Pirates Beach West).
